Students at Worcester University were the latest to experience a simulation as part of an evening sponsored by the Association of Project Management (APM). The simulation, created by AbleSim, required the students to prioritise stakeholder reports and consider risks surrounding a case study based on an aircraft hangar refurbishment.
Results Judged by Completeness of the WBS
The final output of the simulation was a completed work breakdown structure, and students then discovered if they had catered for the risks and uncertainty inherent in every project. Lasting just under 2 hours the simulation gave students a taste of real project management, and a chance to put their theoretical project management knowledge to the test!
The simulation was a great success with one student recognising that there wasn’t enough time, there was too much information, and not enough resources. Welcome to the real world of projects!
