Students at Worcester University were the latest to experience a new classroom simulation as part of an evening sponsored by the Association of Project Management (APM). The simulation, created by AbleSim, required the students to prioritise stakeholder reports and consider risks surrounding a case study based on an aircraft hangar refurbishment.

The New Hangar Simulation is described here!

Results Judged by Completeness of the WBS

The final output of the new classroom simulation was a completed work breakdown structure, and students then discovered if they had catered for the risks and uncertainty inherent in every project. Lasting just under 2 hours the simulation gave students a taste of real project management, and a chance to put their theoretical project management knowledge to the test!

The simulation was a great success with one student recognising that there wasn’t enough time, there was too much information, and not enough resources. Welcome to the real world of projects!
