The Garden Party Project – Blog

This simulation is a paper-based/classroom Project Management simulation that can take as little as 30 minutes to complete. The Garden Party Project – Blog describes it’s use. Project Management is a complex and dynamic subject. It cannot be taught solely by classroom lectures, books, or case studies. Teaching Project Management theory is easy, but no two projects are the same. Project Management Simulations are required for students to learn through experience.

What is it? Who is it for? How Long Does it Take?

The Garden Party Project Simulation is a test of information sharing, communication, and leadership. There is also some debate regarding the scope of the project that needs to be resolved to everybody’s satisfaction!

The simulation was designed for Project Management students. However very little project management skill is required. It is also suitable for Project Team members who may be learning about project management, or used on a team-building course. The simulation takes around 30 minutes to complete, and 30 minutes to reflect and de-brief the learning points.

The Garden Project can be used as an Ice-Breaker type activity at the beginning of a training course to encourage communication and participation.
